Why it works: The benefits of PTP
Helping each driver understand why they drive the way they do provides the foundation for CPD’s highly-successful driver training program. After all, when a driver understands what motivates his driving behavior, it’s easier to teach him how to change it. Tailor the teaching to the learner and you ensure greater retention of better driving habits.
Psychological: the benefit
After the initial assessment of a driver’s ability to understand, analyze, conceptualize, interact and learn, we can establish what kind of learner we are teaching. If not acknowledged, differences in learning ability can quickly become barriers to interpersonal communication, which can lead to misunderstandings or worse, “road rage.” We use these findings to determine a more relevant course of training as well as to set better metrics.
Theory: the benefit
Our drivers are often surprised at how accurately they define their own driving behavior. Conversely, the training helps them realize that every driver on the road is not thinking exactly like they are, and that more often than not, other drivers will interpret the same situations or laws differently. We know that creating this type of awareness is the key to changing driving behavior.
Practical: the benefit
At this stage in the program, with “driving personality” established, we can build a physical training methodology that instantly connects with the driver, reinforcing their earlier learning while ensuring greater retention and better results for your company.
EduTrainMent
Our curriculum may be rooted in science and psychology, but we still like to have fun. We know that if learning is enjoyable, you’re more likely to get something out of it. That’s why we believe in the process of “edutrainment.” By incorporating “fun” elements into the course – like the “rodeo” in our backing program – we offer the most broadly appealing and universal context for communication. As more and more of our drivers leave feeling energized and wanting more, word has quickly spread that our knowledgeable training approach provides a great learning experience. When people are entertained and relaxed, their resistance to new ideas diminishes, allowing them to be fully engaged, and become aware of their needs as well as the needs of others. Now that’s EduTrainMent!
