Basic Driving Instructor Course

This course meets and exceeds the Ministry of Transportation’s educational and practical requirements to qualify to teach driving in Ontario. This course prepares applicants to become safe and competent driving instructors with the ability to train novice drivers in “G” class in Ontario.

  • Understanding motivation of drivers
  • Defensive Driving strategy

  • Highway Traffic Act / Municipal by-laws
  • Scheduling competencies
  • Collision Scene Management
  • Insurance needs
  • Evaluation and correcting techniques

In-Vehicle

  • Prevention and Intervention Techniques
  • Coaching techniques
  • Communication skills for in-car training
  • Maneuvering
  • Highway Driver Training
  • Vehicle Management
  • Risk Management

Prerequisites

  • Four years of a valid driving experience.
  • Zero demerit points on your driving record.
